The Iris of a Fragile Leaf

How to quickly get your work day over with.

So you just punched into work.  You have eight full hours in front of you which is half of your day.  It's completely gorgeous outside, all the girls coming in our in tank tops and booty shorts, and some how all your friends do not have jobs and they keep calling you.  We all want this to go by as fast as possible.  To do that is to not think.  Calm yourself before coming to your job and try to clear your mind.  Maybe if that is not working to your advantage because your best friend just bitched at your for not hanging out last night then just try to remember any song from start to finish and make up the words as you go.  This will come in handy in more ways then one.  First you are pre-occupying yourself before you even enter your department.  This gives you a task that you can probably try and finish by the end of the day that is not work.  It could possibly help you develop but we are just doing this to keep your mind off of reality.  Reality is exceptionally bad at work because it can suck you in.  Your first priority is to trick time.  By doing meaningless tasks that have nothing to do with work, you hardly remember reality is an option thus, for some reason, time goes by faster.  That being said, try to not look at the clock.  Nothing except familiar faces outside of the work place brings you closer to reality then time.

I don’t know why they dragged me into this car.  They needed some companion to go with them to the mall but I just needed to be left alone.  I just crawled on his back seat and curled up in a ball with my head leaning over the edge of Jon’s cheap interior.  My stomach was in knots and every time I looked up at their faces always seemed to look worried.  They talked over the Ipod about working at an ice cream shoppe and primarily about a customer they classified as Asian Invasion.  I didn’t wanna have to hear about their school boy shenanigans.  The more and more I heard about girls, the stranger they became to me. It felt like peer pressure when they talked about situations they have been in with girls.  It puzzles me that they have slapped their co-workers asses and sprayed them down with whip cream and I still am left out on all those scandalous, idiotic ideas.  You think I would get women because I have never done shit like that but logic never seems to play a vital part in flirting.  Thinking and hearing don’t help my situation so I wrapped my hood around my face and buried it into Jon’s aged-sweat smelling seat.  I steadily breathed with my eyes shut just listening to the cars pass.

All I hear from my room is the phone ringing.  I was just sitting on my bed dreading this Monday night.  Nothing to do and I just recently ended contact with a whole group of friends.  Justin, Tito, Joey.  They were becoming all thugged out.  Yeah we liked to listen to rap but that never meant that I wanted to actually be “hard” or whatever the expression is.  I didn’t need anything to compensate me being a young adult.  I rather be inside playing magic the gathering or some video game then pulling Christmas decorations off of houses and stealing peoples mail.  Yeah when we pulled off that guys wired lights and his gutter fell off I laughed.  Then we ran trying to escape the scene but he caught up to us asking if we had a knife.  I didn’t.  He did.  Then the next week they offered me some weed and do to my naivety I declined.  I never went back over there after that night because it was just a ticking time bomb.  They started drinking anything around their houses and they always blamed there parents.  So now I just read in my room like I used to do.
