The Fallen House

Some people swore the house was haunted.  I was never a subscriber to the supernatural forces, that people rumor, is constantly watching us.  The speculation of this house has been around since I was a teenager.  It scared people a decade ago but now it’s a mysterious thrill for this new generation.  We respected the sanctuary of the house in its entirety and let the muses sleep with their dignity.  Still the rumor is still floating around and these ears haven’t heard of anyone trying to tackle the challenge.  Or the people who did never made it back out.   Death, ghosts, souls in limbo killing the living’ now that’s jealousy.

So I g to open the cellar door , in the pitch dark, of the two story house that sits on a hill on Maple Drive.  Those doors after one good pull fell to my will.  Both doors ripped clean off the hinges revealed a narrow stairway to the basement.  I slowly survey each step, each crevice and crack in the un-finished basement.  Dozens of them, covering the walls like dried up veins.  The foundation was on its last breath.  Rich, dusty columns held the floors above it which dropped, nearly touching my skull.  I walked through basement, trying to find some clues to prove the legend but all i had were creaks and chattering between the animals that lay dormant in the abandoned house.  The cement, that was lain over a hundred years ago, was very cold and unsettling so i decided to go upstairs.  Each odd step was missing or broken, all the way up the 13 steps of stairs.  Grasping onto the banister only made it harder to climb until it gave loose.  My knees smacked the7th step leaving me with repercussions that I live with.  When the banister finally fell, it crumbled to pieces.  To many to count.  The whole house would eventually do to it's deteriorating nature.
I take every step slowly and carefully finally making it all the way up.  My knees started bruising, sending tingles up and down my leg.  Also from the fall, my brain felt a little scrambled.  I glance around seeing only dark rooms surround me.  The house was to old for light.  Something crashes right in front of me but I cannot recall what it was.  Something sensed me.  My head rushed with blood as the house sat on the hill.  I could see silk curtains dance with the wind, glass shattered from previous engagements.  All I heard were things whispering to me.  The house let out a trembling echo from the crash which made me jump.  Not only jump but run.  All the way down those tricky stairs to the entrance.  Back down in the basement, I kick the column supporting the house and kept running.  As I fully notice myself outside the house, I turn around to see the ash.  It all crumbled in one piece and the ash rose like fog.  Now the legend was toppled.  And I was known for it.  Nothing was ever the same after that.
